It is designed for longer-lasting bonding, whether due to the size of the bonded parts or the complexity of the construction. For this reason, Loctite 640 has an extended curing time. The bonding agent cures in the gap between two metal surfaces without access to air. After application and curing, it secures the construction against unwanted release. Loctite 640 is also highly resistant to vibrations and shocks. Typical applications of Loctite 640 include securing wedges and pins, fitted cylindrical components, bearings, sleeves, bushings, and similar items.
