Liquid thread lock adhesives are primarily used for securing, as well as sealing screws in threaded joints. The Loctite 278 adhesive offers increased resistance to temperature, and is also resistant to shocks and vibrations after curing, which are often the cause of loosening, cracking, and subsequent seepage of the thread. Loctite 278 is applied in liquid form directly between metal mating parts, where it subsequently cures and provides high-strength locking of the threaded joint. We recommend applying Loctite 278 only where you know that the joint will be permanently secured without subsequent regular disassembly.
